Helping Ontario Build More Inclusive Communities
Over $50,000 in Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston supporting active living for people of all abilities

John Jordan, MPP for Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston, announced $50,435 for two local projects in his riding, to improve accessibility and support people of all ages and abilities.
“These investments will remove barriers locally and let people of all abilities live active and independent lives in our Lanark and Frontenac communities,” said MPP Jordan. “We see real results with Inclusive Community Grants that help so many across our riding stay connected, close to home.”
Inclusive Community Grants provides funding of up to $60,000 for projects of all ages and abilities live healthy, active and independent lives.
“Inclusive community grants remove barriers for people of all abilities,” said Raymond Cho, Minister for Seniors and Accessibility. “Inclusive Community Grants prevent social isolation and create new opportunities for everyone to stay active and healthy.”
Since the Inclusive Community Grants Program was created in 2020, Ontario has provided over $5 million to support 107 projects promoting inclusivity and accessibility across the province.
The Town of Carleton Place received $31,000 to make accessible enhancements to a 4.0 km portion of the Ottawa Valley Recreation Trail, by installing 10 permanent accessible benches along the portion of the trail which connects the north and south ends of the town.
“The Town is always consciously striving to improve and enhance municipal amenities so that they can be enjoyed by residents of all ages and abilities,” says Toby Randell, Mayor of the Town of Carleton Place. “The OVRT is a key active transportation corridor in the community and the addition of benches will create a more welcoming space and ensure that residents have a safe and comfortable way to get from one end of the community to the other.”
The Township of North Frontenac received $19,435 to install a fully accessible entrance door to a Community Hall that allows residents and visitors an equal opportunity to enjoy community events and services.
