Funding will support critical water infrastructure project

Perth, Ontario — MPP John Jordan joined local dignitaries and staff today, as the Town of Perth officially broke ground on the Wastewater Lagoon Expansion Project.
The Ontario government is investing $2,952,850 in critical water infrastructure to help build up to 2,500 new homes in the Town of Perth. The funding is being delivered through the second intake of the Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund, which includes a total of $325 million to help municipalities build, repair, rehabilitate and expand drinking water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure across Ontario.
“The visionary leaders of our riding are meeting the challenge of exponential growth by embracing new opportunities to create safe, healthy and inclusive communities,” said John Jordan MPP for Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston. “This investment provides the essential funding for clean infrastructure, foundational in planning and designing a well-rounded mix of housing options to welcome people home to the beautiful Town of Perth.”
The funding was announced by the province in January 2025. The Town of Perth will use the funding to expand its wastewater lagoon. This project will increase housing supply and support economic growth.
Construction on the Wastewater Lagoon Expansion Project is expected to continue through to Summer 2027.
Through the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program and the Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund, Ontario is providing nearly $2 billion to support housing- and community-enabling infrastructure and build more homes across the province.
