Part of over $1.1 billion investment to support operational improvements and ensure Ontarians can continue to access high-quality hospital care in their community
The Ontario government is investing $18,776,600 million to support improved operations and reduced wait times at hospitals in Smiths Falls, Perth, Carleton Place, Almonte and Kingston. This funding is part of a $1.1 billion investment into our hospital sector as part of Budget 2026, A Plan to Protect Ontario, which represents a 4 per cent increase in annual support for the fourth year in a row.
“This government continues to make strategic investments in our healthcare system,” said John Jordan, MPP for Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Health. “This support, which is in addition to 2025-26 funding, will help our hospitals meet growing demand and ensure patients receive the high-quality healthcare they expect and deserve, close to home.”
These investments will support the operations of each hospital’s core clinical services so they can better meet patient needs.
The Almonte General Hospital, Carleton Place District Memorial Hospital and Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital will receive a total of $3,703,500.
Kingston Health Sciences Centre and Providence Care Centre will receive a total of $15,073,100.
“Our government is making historic investments to protect Ontario’s health-care system, ensuring that more people in the riding of Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston can connect to the care they need, where and when they need it,” said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health.
Through Your Health: A Plan For Connected and Convenient Care, the Ontario government is expanding access to key services to provide people with the right care, in the right place, close to come.
This involves expansion to primary care capacity and the Community Paramedic Program.
QUICK FACTS
- The Ontario government is investing $257 million in 2025-26 to support critical infrastructure upgrades and repairs at 126 hospitals and 66 community health-care facilities across the province, a 12.3 per cent increase from the previous year.
- In 2025-26, Almonte General Hospital, Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital, Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital and Kingston Health Sciences Centre are receiving a total of $9,303,768 million through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund, to support the critical infrastructure needs of its hospitals.
